First you will enjoy the town center showing some 18th century houses including the Town Hall, built in 1719, and its belfry surmounted by an unusually shaped dome. Then have a look at the abbey built in the 14th century on the site of an early 11th century building. You will admire its single-bell tower pointing at the Lorraine sky, as the river Nied waters reflect the apse and its turrets. It is worth visiting its choir, its baroque stalls and its modern-style stained glasses perfectly matched with the 16th century windows. In spite of successive restorations, the choir still displays pure gothic lines, high raised vaults, a sober decoration and a cloister adjourning the Sainte Croix Church. The abbey is listed as a historical monument.

The name "Sainte Croix" (Holy Cross in English) goes back to the origins of the building when Count Adalbert of Metz gave the relics of the Holy Cross to be housed at the Bouzonville Benedictine Abbey, which he had founded with his wife Judith by 1033. At the base of the church, you can discover a waterfall, which mill was pulled down, unfortunately. At night, come and admire the floodlighting of the cloister and the waterfall that reinforces the majesty of this monument.

On your way to Thionville, you can follow the Stations of the Holy Cross built in 1879. They will lead you to the Oratory of the "Beautifull Cross". This boasts the religious and cultural inheritance and treasures of local history.

The leisture fans, therefore, are not forgotten. Apart from the sports complex and the indoor and outdoor tennis courts, you may enjoy rambling or cycling through the large Stockholz state-owned forest. Finally, the Nied River offers activities such as fisching and canoeing along a site equiped at purpose.
